This is a before and after series of porn stars with and without makeup (Makeup and photos by xmelissamakeupx)
I’ll just let that sink in with all of my followers who have low self esteem due to their appearance.
omfg
uh wow the power of makeup and some good lighting
i wear makeup but fuck i still look like me at the end of it i cant believe how dramatic the changes are. holy shit.
This is incredibly important for about 600 different reasons.
Recently there was some sort of ‘natural beauty’ photoshoot/poll thing going around and one of the photos in it was of Emma Watson, I’ve seen the photo on my dash a lot and every time I do it makes me so angry because despite the fact that it’s supposed to be about ‘natural beauty’ it’s still clear to me that she had foundation, loose powder, eyeshadow and all the rest of it on, she had been photographed in perfect lighting, her hair had been done professionally, her skin had been airbrushed and god knows what they did to her actual bone structure with photoshop. All I could see was that they had toned the make-up down to look natural and done a very minimalist shot, basically giving her a natural appearance unnaturally.
I cannot think of anything more damaging to a woman’s self image, especially for those who are young girls viewing it. Because even when the images are supposed to be natural they aren’t natural at all.
If you are looking at someone who is supposed to have no make-up on, their hair not done to the nines etc. and they are still 100% flawless then you are probably going to feel crippled by the fact that you don’t look like that, you are going to be enraged and confused as to why you don’t look like that, the amount of eating disorders, anxiety disorders, suicides, depressions and a whole host of other monsters that span simply from conditioning that lasts pretty much our whole lives via the portrayal of people by the media is daunting. I know this is an age old argument but it still stands as an important discussion point. I would say at least 90% of all images of women you will see in magazines, on TV and anywhere else in the media will be completely unachievable. The people themselves don’t even look like that.
This is what people actually look like, women in media without any make-up do not just have less tan skin, smaller looking eyes etc. they often look completely different because of how much make-up that is put on them. Sex workers are no different, it’s still media, take a good look at these photo’s and acknowledge that this is what people actually look like and that nobodies skin looks clear and perfect and pore-less like you see it in photographs without foundation, that there are false eye-lashes, hair extensions, air-brushing, tinting and god knows what else used to achieve that look that is supposed to be them. Whole facial shapes and bone structures are changed with make-up and that’s before photoshop even goes on. The transformations are staggering.
I hate being fed this and despite the fact that I take comfort in seeing these women naturally I also feel nauseous at the fact that expectations are so impossibly high that a portion of us, an every-growing proportion, will probably die trying to achieve it.
The pressure to look like something/someone that is impossible to look like is insurmountable, I sometimes go to bed with make-up on just so I’ll look less terrible when I wake up and sometimes I feel so angry/horrified about the way I look that I cannot leave the house and there is so very little that can be done about it because the pressure just gets higher and higher, how is anyone supposed to like themselves when the only way someone will look at/appreciate/validate them is if they don’t look like themselves at all? How are we supposed to look at/appreciate/validate ourselves when we can only feel self worth after undergoing such image morphing treatment to equalize ourselves with unobtainable expectations? I just, I know I’m shouting into the abyss here but it never stops making me angry, I’m angry about this all the time because it’s ruined me and it’s ruined countless others and it’s only getting worse. This is awesome.

(x)this part made me laugh, because I now imagine that Ratchet tunes out 95% of everything going on around him, until he hears someone mention Optimus. then his head snaps up and his antennae thingys perk up like dog ears, and he starts lookin around the room at everyone to see who said the thing.
